About Me

About Me

Lottie Williams, winner of the Nigel Jenkins Award for Creative Writing 2023 and a Pushcart Prize nominee, is a writer based in Carmarthenshire whose love for place and life colours almost every piece she writes, including poetry and creative non-fiction. She is especially interested in eco/nature writing which includes but also pushes past the more traditional adoration and reverie, bringing focus to a re-imagining of our landscape where humans must act now in its restoration. As a mother, Lottie feels a responsibility to educate the next generation where both environmental and human change is possible.

Lottie is one of six writers chosen to be part of Literature Wales' inaugural Writing Well 2023-24 scheme, in which she will learn about the facilitation of writing for therapeutic purposes.  In September 2023, she co-presented a session at the Lapidus Creative Bridges International Conference for Writing for Wellbeing.

In September 2022, Lottie was chosen by Literature Wales as the recipient for a fully funded place on the writing course 'Writing, Climate and the Living World' at the Black Mountain College, and in June 2022, she attended a writing residency on Ynys Enlli / Bardsey Island.

Lottie's eco-poem 'On Solfach Beach' was published in Modron Magazine, April 2023, and subsequently nominated for the Pushcart Prize in November 2023.  Other publications include Nation.Cymru, Red Door, Eiddo and Firewords.  She has written a reader report for The Books Council of Wales, and contributes to Studio Cennen exhibition newsletters.

In January 2024, Lottie was asked to be a guest reader at Tiger Bay Poetry in Cardiff, and in March and April, 2023, Lottie featured in conversation with other writers for Diverse Voices creative sessions, Race Council Cymru. She has featured in several online festivals, including the Being Human Festival, of which she is published within the accompanying Parthian anthology, Coracle Europe Festival, and an event by Poets, Prattlers and Pandemonialists. She has performed onstage at Landed Festival 2021.  Lottie was a presenter for the YouTube channel Just Another Poet at the Seren Cardiff Poetry Festival July 2022.

More details about her work can be found in the writing and presentation tabs above.
